Be a Referee
KDVC referees, as members of the Ontario Volleyball Association and Volleyball Canada, play a key role within the volleyball community ensuring match play occurs in accordance with Volleyball Canada rules. ​The certification program begins with the Level 1-Local Referee Clinic.​

Certified referees can be assigned to a range of matches including​ OVA tournaments (Indoor Youth Competitions and OVA Beach Tour), OVA Provincial Championships, Volleyball Canada National Championships, OUA (USports) matches and tournaments, OCAA (CCAA) matches and tournaments, High school leagues and tournaments, and other events as requested.
​​Indoor Certification Clinics
Typically offered the last week of September-first week of October annually. Participation is usually capped between 12-14 participants, but if there is sufficient interest, we may offer a second clinic.

Beach Certification Clinics
Regrettably, we do not offer Beach Certification clinics locally at this time. For more information about Beach certification, contact the Beach Chair or search the OVA for a Beach Clinic near you.

Level 1 (Local) Clinic
Your career, whether Indoor or Beach, begins with a Level 1 Certification Clinic.

The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Local Referee Clinic is designed for students, teachers, players, coaches and parents interested in refereeing. Candidates will progress through an online theory course and exam, an in-person theory session and finally a practical session (tournament) where the candidates will referee matches as part of their final evaluations.
