LEVEL 1- LOCAL CLINIC FORMAT
OVA LEVEL 1 CLINIC / KDVC OUTLINE
Below you will find an overview of each of the clinic components.
Note: Items marked with an * are specific to KDVC's clinic environments and may or may not be offered at other OVA clinic locations.
Candidates will progress through 4 Sessions and MUST complete all four sessions to pass - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Please plan your work, school and home schedules to ensure you can attend ALL SESSIONS as required.
ONLINE THEORY
Prerequisites: Registered in a Level 1 Clinic
Commitment: 4.0 Hours, e-module

A minimum of one week before the In-Person practical is scheduled, you will receive an invitation from OVA's EasyGenerator platform to complete the Online Theory and the Online Exam at home. You will also receive an email from the OVA with instructions on how to access the platform. The Level 1 Online Theory program is a self-guided learning tool that takes your through the Level 1 Theory material. The e-module is an interactive and engaging platform that includes visuals which correlate to the course material, helping candidates make connections between the rules of the game and in-game applications.
Candidates will receive a link to the online version of the current Volleyball Canada Rule Book to help them complete the e-modules and will have continued access to the e-modules so that the material can be reviewed before, during, and after the In-Person Theory.
ONLINE EXAM
Prerequisites: Online Theory complete
Commitment: 1.5 Hours, timed e-module
Pass: 80% or higher
Unlike the theory course the exam module cannot be paused; you must complete the exam in one sitting and your time begins from the time you open the exam module link.
Format: 100 Marks total
20 Marks - Fill in the Blanks
60 Marks - Multiple Choice
20 Marks - True or False
Prerequisites: Online Exam complete
Commitment: 4 Hours
Facilitated learning session
Once you have completed the online theory and exam sessions, it is then time to complete the rest of your certification practical sessions, one of which includes a 4-hour in-class session. During this session, the clinician will review the exam and will focus on any questions that candidates answered incorrectly. This session will also introduce candidates to the pre-, during- and post-match protocols used to perform their duties. Conducted in a gym, they will be given the opportunity to practice ahead of the In-Person Practical.

During the last hour or so, we will either have a local team scrimmage (or you, as a group, will scrimmage if a team is not available) to allow you some stress-free practice on the stand and to reinforce our expectations for Saturday's Practical Tournament evaluations.

Prerequisites: Attended In-Person Theory
Commitment: 8 Hours
Facilitated, in-person evaluations in a tournament setting
Candidates will referee at a tournament to be evaluated for the Level 1 certification, and will work as R1, R2 and line judges. If time allows, referees will also be given the opportunity to work as a scorer. Successful candidates will be awarded their referee badge and a set of sanction cards. Emphasis will remain on the skills and practical application of the concepts established during the In-Person Theory sessions.
